Your dentist may have recommended you or your child seek an evaluation for orthodontic treatment. You may have been referred by one of our patients currently in treatment. Or you may have decided on your own that you would like a beautiful, healthy smile and wanted to obtain more answers. Whatever your reason, we welcome the opportunity to serve you and welcome you to our office.
When you come into our office for the first time, you will be greeted by one of our front office staff. You should have received the initial paperwork in the mail. Please have this filled out prior to your visit. This will save time when you arrive.
While you are waiting, kids of all ages can keep themselves occupied in our Kid’s Area. We have Game Boys, DVD’s, books, puzzles, stuffed animals to keep kids entertained while they are waiting, or if brother or sister are being treated.Once you have been brought back to the examination room, we will review your medical history. Every patient will receive a complementary comprehensive orthodontic examination from the doctor to determine the complete orthodontic status of your mouth. After the doctor has had the opportunity to thoroughly evaluate your findings, you will meet one-on-one for a private consultation and discuss your proposed treatment options. We place great emphasis on educating our patients on the orthodontic process. During this discussion the doctor will give his treatment recommendations, discuss costs of the proposed treatment, as well as give you the opportunity to ask questions of the doctor as well as any other questions you may have. After your private consultation with the doctor, you will meet with our business office where we can answer any financial questions you have, check insurance coverage, as well as schedule your treatment. We offer many payment choices and will work with you to help make the best arrangements possible.Because your general dental health is so important to us, every orthodontic patient will receive a free Sonicare toothbrush for use at home. In addition, one week after your braces are put on, we will bring you back in for a free fluoride varnish to prevent any decalcifications and decay. This is especially important as Spokane is a non-fluoridated community and patients growing up here are at higher risk for decalcification and decay.
Dr. David has a wonderful chairside manner, just as his father did when I saw him many years ago. He made me feel very comfortable.

I would highly recommend Dr. Engen and his office staff to anyone whose child was apprehensive about having braces. Other than the high level of professionalism, I appreciate the down-play of cutsie-pie gimmicks for kids. He thoroughly explained everything to us right from the start.

Because of the internet information provided about his background and education, I feel I have a top level, up-to-date professional taking care of me.

State of the art care! I like the “get it right” attitude. After eight years I have not had one negative experience.

Dr. Engen was great! He explained my diagnosis and the procedure required thoroughly. I was even asked if I liked the colors of paint for the office.
