Meet The Team

Barb

Office Coordinator/Surgical & Orthodontic Assistant

I have enjoyed working in the field of dentistry since 1986. I joined Dr. Engen’s practice in 1988 and I feel very fortunate to be involved with such a caring and professional group.

I help run the day to day front office including scheduling, patient treatment coordinating and communication from our office to our referring doctors. I am also a surgical and orthodontic assistant which enables me to work one on one with the patients and really get to know them. In addition, I coordinate continuing education programs our doctor’s host including the Spokane Study Club. Being part of a team which improves smiles, betters patient’s oral health and boosts their confidence is very rewarding!

I enjoy spending time with my husband, Alan and our son Joey (2006). We love to snow ski, camping and walk the beaches on the Oregon Coast. I treasure my time with family and friends. I have lived in Spokane my whole life.

Stacy

Surgical/Orthodontic Assistant

I am a graduate of Spokane Community College where I received my Dental Assisting Degree. I began working for Drs. Engen, Hahn, and Pizzini  in 2002.

I am both a surgical and orthodontic assistant. I love the variety of my profession! I assist in cases from placing dental implants to placing braces and I order all the dental supplies for the office. I attend continuing education lectures on a regular basis and help coordinate many of the lectures Dr. Engen hosts such as the Inland Northwest Dental Hygiene Study Club and the Peer Practicum Study Club. I enjoy teaching our patients the importance of a lifelong commitment to good oral hygiene to keeping their mouths healthy. It is very rewarding to help restore someone’s smile and confidence! I am proud to work at an office where everyone takes such pride in their job and is so caring. We all truly want the very best result for each and every patient!

I enjoy spending time with my husband Jason and our children Cloe (2003), Layla (2009) and Cooper (2014). They keep us busy with soccer games and cheer. We spend a lot of time outdoors with our extended families barbequing, camping and boating on the lakes and rivers nearby.

Karin

Hygienist

I worked as a Dental Assistant for six years before graduating from University of Southern California in 1995 with a BS degree in Dental Hygiene, and stayed and taught at the dental hygiene clinic.

I belong to The Inland Northwest Dental Hygiene Study Club, the largest hygiene study club in the nation, Dr. Engen is the co-founder. Working with Drs. Engen, Hahn, and Pizzini is a privilege and a pleasure. I feel very fortunate to work with a team of people who truly care for each and every patient, people of good character, who conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity.

I love what I do! It is important for me to have interaction with every patient and have them come away knowing that I truly care, and want to provide them the best experience in dentistry we have to offer.

I am extremely blessed to have the love and support of my family. My husband and I have been together for twenty eight years. We have two beautiful daughters, who are very busy with their studies and sporting events. We recently added a new family member, a Maltese puppy, who brings us much joy. I treasure time with family and friends. I love to swim, bike and run.

Mandy

Business Manager

I went to college at EWU and started my dental career as a dental assistant in 1999. I found I loved helping patients with their appointments, working with insurance to maximize dental benefits and coordinating financial arrangements to help each patient achieve their individual goals.

I joined the Engen/Hahn/Pizzini dental team in 2013 as part of the financial and treatment coordinating team. In January 2017 I became the business manager. It has been a fun journey being part of the business side of the dental office.

Drs. Engen, Hahn, and Pizzini have a wonderful and amazing team that I’m proud to be a part of! I enjoy seeing how our doctors are able to help change patient’s smiles and lives.

I enjoy spending time with my husband Monte and our kiddos, Cheyanne (1996), Cleo (2010) and MJ (2013). I also like spending time quilting, reading, skiing, and time at our family’s place at Whidbey Island.

Starla

Treatment and Financial Coordinator

I have been in the dental industry for the past 22 years. I started out as an assistant and then moved to the business office where I did the scheduling and the finances. I enjoy all facets of the business side of dentistry, but am most passionate about helping the patients feel comfortable and answering any questions or concerns tat they might have.

I feel blessed to have joined Drs. Engen, Hahn, and Pizzini's office in 2017. They all take pride in the patient care and are all so professional. I’m truly grateful to be part of such a fantastic team.

I live on a small farm where I enjoy my garden and all my animals. I have two loving large breed dogs that are my children, three cool cats, a special needs horse (mostly blind but very healthy!), many chickens and six cows. My husband and I also raise and bale our own hay. The farm keeps us very busy. When the opportunities arise, you will find us camping on the river, hiking, kayaking and enjoying the beauty and solitude of the mountains.

Amanda

Patient Care Coodinator

I graduated from Spokane Community College where I received my dental assisting certificate in 2006. I worked as an assistant and then as an insurance coordinator in a general practice for twelve years. I was beyond blessed to have joined the professional team of Drs. Engen, Hahn, and Pizzini in 2019. Here I work in the business office coordinating patient care and helping with their insurance benefits. I enjoy working with each individual to financially accomplish their dental goals with payment options they are comfortable with. I look forward to a lifelong career with this amazing and talented group that I am so proud to be a part of.

I was born in Spokane but grew up in Elk, WA. Dave and I enjoy spending time with our chocolate lab fur babies, and most importantly the love of our life, our first born child who we brought into this world in 2018, Shedley. We are very compassionate about the outdoors: hunting, shed hunting (how our son got his name), fishing, hiking, camping all things outdoors we love it and do it.

Jennie

Front Desk/Scheduling Coordinator

I am lucky enough to be one of the newer members of the Engen, Hahn and Pizzini team.  I have five years experience in general dentistry where I had the pleasure of assisting patients with their scheduling, insurance and billing needs.  I worked in the banking industry for eighteen years prior to my years in dental. I look forward to getting to know you and assisting with your scheduling needs.  I am excited to learn and grow with the Engen, Hahn and Pizzini family.

I have two grown daughters, one is a EWU college graduate and the other attends WSU.  I love spending time outdoors with my family hiking, biking, camping or kayaking.

Lara

Orthodontic Assistant

It has been exciting to begin a new career in the field of orthodontics and wonderful to work in such an organized and professional office.  I was drawn to Dr. Engen, Hahn, and Pizzini's office in 2021 because of the highly trained and skilled team of doctors and assistants.  They are the best at what they do and truly care about their patients.  I am extremely fortunate to be working side by side with them, the office staff and our lab technicians.

I finished my Associate Degree from BYU-Idaho in 2016.  My background is in education and I have taught preschool and music for several years.

I have been married to my husband, Mark, for 33 years and have six children and four grandchildren.  I find satisfaction in serving in my community through several non-profit organizations.  I have lived in Spokane for over 40 years and I'm grateful for the beautiful trails, lakes and rivers we have here to explore.  I love being a grandma and spending time with my family.

Kayla

Patient Care Coordinator

I began my dental career in 2008 as a dental assistant and receptionist specializing in pediatric dentistry. After taking a few years off to raise my two children Ashlynn (2009) and Kellan (2010) I joined the amazing team here at Drs. Engen, Hahn and Pizzini. I love being able to get to know our wonderful patients as they come to us in the business office.

When I’m not helping our patients coordinate the financial side of their dental journey, I love to spend time with my busy family. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Aaron, since 2008 and I happily support his career in the WA Air National Guard. Together we stay busy with our children’s sports and activities and we love to squeeze in some traveling any time we can.

Beth

Sterilization Technichian

I joined  this amazing team in 2022.  My own dental experiences drew me to this career choice and I am loving it.

I grew up here in Spokane and together with my best friend and fiancé Will we are raising our fur babies Harley and Luna.  I enjoy going on walks with our dog but also staying in with a good book.  I am an avid concern goer and have been to over 100 concerts!

Jenine

Hygienist

I have been a dental hygienist for the better part of 25 years and absolutely LOVE my career! I especially feel blessed to be in such a great office as Drs. Engen & Pizzini. The high quality of care I am able to give my patients and the wonderful dental family I am part of is a dream come true.

I began my career in Flagstaff, Arizona where I graduated from NAU’s dental hygiene program in 1999. I then had the opportunity to work in periodontics and found my passion! I was honored to teach at NAU as an adjunct professor and then as a full time professor from 2006-2009. I followed that with work on the Navajo Nation. While there, I provided patient care, wrote grants, collaborated with the diabetes and prenatal programs and oversaw the hygiene department. What an amazing opportunity!

My great dental adventures have come full circle with my family and career bringing me to Spokane and I am so happy to be here!  I am caring for patients in a periodontal office and I am teaching at EWU in the dental hygiene program. I love teaching and I love clinical practice - is there a better combination?

In my spare time I love my dogs, cats and guinea pigs. I love to bike, hike and garden with family and friends.  I look forward to meeting you at your next dental cleaning!

Kiajia

Front Desk/Scheduling Coordinator

Kiajia L.  My first name is pronounced K-I-Ya like Mya. I began my dental career in 2019 as a dental assistant in general dentistry. I have always heard such amazing things about Dr. Engen’s team and now I get to be a part of it. I enjoy getting to know and bond with our patients. I am excited and so fortunate to get to work alongside these incredible people every day. As the newest member of the team I look forward to getting to know our patients as I help with their scheduling, insurance and billing needs.

I was born and raised in Spokane and graduated from Shadle Park High School. On my down time I like to travel, go on adventures and try new foods. My fiancé, Brian and I have three rambunctious fur babies; Bernadette Danger (Old Boston Bulldog), Dante Fuego (Deer Headed Chihuahua), and Tobias Emery (Pomeranian Chihuahua). We, as all good Pacific Northwest people, love camping, ATVing, and exploring this beautiful part of the country. I own enough books to be considered a legal library and that goes hand in hand with being an avid reader. I play volleyball during the week and collecting and playing with Legos on rainy days. I look forward to meeting you at your next appointment!
